That is a very long wait. Do you know if they are a headache specialist neurologist. It would be worthwhile giving the Ouch helpline a call as they know of headache specialists in your area. You could then return to the doctor and get the specialist referreal amended if the one you have is not an appropriate specialist. If you are happy with the one you have it would be worth ringing the consultants office and ask if you could be on a reserve list for any cancellations which may get you an appointment sooner.
it is likely you will need to return to your doctor in any event to sort out a repeat prescription for the Sumatriptan injections if they work for you. Two a day is the maximum. Your doctor seems to have read the NICE guidelines since he/she has moved you from nasal sprays to injections which is good. It would also be a good opportunity given the delay in seeing a specialist to ask for Oxygen again which would hopefully reduce the number of Sumatriptan injections if the O2 worked. You could offer to cancel the oxygen if it didn’t work or at the end of your Cluster period, if you are an episodic sufferer. Just a few of my thoughts anyway.
I just logged back in after years not being on here I been free for four years not believe my luck thought the curse had been lifted after 25 years being a episodic sufferer but it came back yesterday morning woke me up level10 headache no messing straight into it few hours it lasted no sumatriptans or oxygen I know I has nothing to do with this topic but listening or bookworm I feel for you mate. It took me 15 years to get my image gran injection and near 25 years for them to agree to give me oxygen. I only had one episode since getting oxygen then 4 years free...Sod’s law,, anyway lucky for me the oxygen people really cool I just kept in touch saying am free but can I keep my Bootle I case they said yes it sat there gathering dust till yesterday an I call they were there to fill it no worries. So it Friday night an A’s I write this I feel the slug on my left eye ...ones coming you guys know the feeling knowing you gong to be praying asking god for help even though I don’t believe in him..anyway off to my tank by guys am in for sum fun
Hope it clears up quickly Si. It's hard to bear after 4 years free. Glad you have oxygen.
Thanks Dorothy it was not as bad as sun. Oxygen a life saver rather have that then the meds. But when I go on holiday I always take meds or I,d not go without even after 4years free
