Zomig doses
Zomig doses
Have seen Dr Brendan Davies at Royal Stoke last week and at last for a really useful consultation. I have had remission for about 18 months but am now in an Episode which started 2 nights ago. Aaargh! He also has a high regard for OUCH.
I started using Zomig nasal sprays in the preceding attacks and they worked well with severe pain levels at KIP 8+ because the oral pills did not work at this level. The oral pills are 2.5mg and the sprays are 5mg. You can have up to 10mg per 24 hours.
So can I take 2 x 2.5mg pills together to abort an attack if I need to save some of the nasal sprays?

Dr Davies is very good, I am pleased you have been able to see him Richard. Please read the leaflet that comes with the Nasal Sprays and follow the dosage carefully. The tablet form of sumatriptan (indeed any triptan) will have no effect on CH irrespective of the dosage. Has Dr Davies got oxygen for you or injectable sumatriptan?
Many thanks for response ElizabethK.
Dr Davies is starting a new SOS service up the road from me at Royal Stoke Hospital. He now has a specialist nurse and the plan is to pick you up if having a crisis and be dealt with immediately. My GP a little sceptical about such a good intention especially as so many attacks happen in the middle of the night.
I find the Zomig nasal doses really effective and have only got them recently. The 2.5mg pills used to take up to 40 mins to work if at all and one 5mg nasal spray takes only 10mins. I tried 2.5mg pill last night and after an hour another one to no avail so attack lasted 3 hours.
