Wind, walking and walking in the wind
Wind, walking and walking in the wind
Just wondering, does anyone else find that walking, especially when it is windy makes the headaches happen more often?
Since I had a massive attack about a month ago, and had an accident in my car, I've been terrified of driving, so I have had to walk everywhere. I now find myself having to walk a LOT, whether it's to take my daughter to school, or to the shops or to visit parents etc. I have been using the waking as exercise to lose weight as well but I've found that when I've been walking for over about 10 minutes, I start getting attacks much more frequently. And even more when it is windy! For example, I had to walk yesterday in very windy conditions for an hour and had 10 attacks while walking. Which is about double what I normally have when not walking.
Ive always found being outside especially in quiet heathland/foresty areas (areas where I have had to walk a lot lately) very calming and relaxing, so I'm not going to stop because of these awful headaches. Though I do worry about what I must look like to other people when an attack strikes
Just wondered if anyone else finds any difference according to how the weather is as well as me?
Ive also found that I get what I think are called 'shadows'? when it's stormy. Like long ongoing headaches just not intense like an attack but still enough to be uncomfortable.

if there is any wind I wear a wolly hat for that reason, cold wid blowing on my head sets of a cluster., also wrap around glasses for glare
yea found this happens to me also when in a cluster bout, a few years ago coming back down mt snowdon my girlfriend at the time badly twisted her ankle on the way back down, she found it was less painful to walk on it than rest it, was also very windy and i started to get a ch and the weight of the rucksack pulling on my shoulders and neck didnt help,i needed to stop and ride the ch out but michelles ankle was badly bruised and still swelling she needed to walk only option was for her to wear the rucksack, when we got to the car park there was police and a ambulance there not for us but the look on there faces when they saw michelle hobbling along with a rucksack on and me walking along easily but holding hand over eye..i still feel the shame of it today.when ive had a few walks around wendover and ivenhoe beacon at tring i still forget to wear a hat or put hood up,wind gives me ear ache then ch...got a few tops now with hoods and take hat evry where i go.
I have recently got one of these for glare when driving as my sunglasses on their own were not good enough for me, It has been excellent

word of caution I did try a similar one on amazon callen pixnor which had a blurry screen and was scatched it went back the same day.
apparently a yellow visor/ filter is also good for driving in heavy rain or fog.
Thanks for your replies. I cannot allow myself to get cold because i also suffer from cholinergic urticaria, which causes massive itchy and painful hives to come up all over my skin. My GP describes it as being allergic to cold or sudden temperature drop. I call it a pain in the neck!
Ive just found recently that the wind seems to be really affecting the SUNCT and every time I have to go out and its windy I know Im in for a bad day. Even after Im back inside, the headaches still bombard me!
try noting the air pressure and humidity each day. and see if there is any link. Low pressure may be susp, and also humidity or a cobination of two readings.
Thanks duetto, I'll do that
I have SUNA which gets triggered by the cold/wind/rain etc. When the weather is rough, I wear a wooly hat, and a buff right up across my cheeks. It's quite funny seeing people's faces when it's warm and sunny (but windy) outside and I'm walking the dog with only my eyes showing!
Arise and be all that you dreamed.
Lol, Chloe, that's exactly what I have started doing as well now!
