The rationale behind psilocybin/vitamin D treatments

I'm fairly certain that advocating the use of the above treatments is discouraged on this forum on the grounds of safety/legality and I'd like to respect this.  This question isn't intended to encourage or promote their use and, given this, I'd ask that others don't use this thread to do so.

However, I've been wondering if there is a rational/scientific reason for these treatments having been explored?  For example, is there a link between vitamin D being derived from sunlight on our skin and the prevalence of Cluster Headaches around changes to the clock?
