Pressure behind the right eye
Pressure behind the right eye
Hello,
I'm new here, not sure if this has already been asked before but i couldn't find anything in the search so decided to create a new thread.
I've had ECH for 6 years now and am currently in my cycle. In past they only lasted for 30-40 days but it was only this year that my GP decided to refer me to a neurogolist who prescribed me verapamil and a short course of steriods. both of which worked wonderfully and the attacks stopped.
Currently, I am on 360mg of verapamil and it has already been more than 30 days now. My problem though is that I have this 'pressure' feeling behind my right eye (same side as my CH) pretty much for the entire day for the last 10 days. I don't have any pain, just this pressure that streached from the top of my right nostril and eye. It gets instense if work on a computer or talk loudly :). Not sure if these are shadaow/rebounds? This is quite new and I have never had this before. Has anyone else had this before? My GP has not been very helpful regarding this.
Thanks a lot

Hello Akash and welcome!
I have often found that if meds have suppressed my attacks I get that pressure on the CH side as if the attack is trying to break through but I always complain about the pressure in my head during cycles anyway. I hope you don't have long to wait for your neuro appointment, have you been referred to a headache specialist?
I don't know if it's possible for you but you would benefit from attending our conference which is to be held in Cardiff in November. A great chance to hear our Chairman, Professor Goadsby, speak about the latest treatments and trials and you never know, you might get the chance to chat to him during one of the breaks as he is usually mingling. You'll meet your CH family and the trustees, make new friends who understand exactly what you go through and leave armed with hope for the future.
Thank you for joining OUCH and becoming a full member. This entitles you to a discounted ticket for our conferences. We also have a facebook group which you might like to join. Don't forget we also have a helpline if you need advice. You can read about our Wales conference here:

Thanks Dorothy, That certainly puts my mind at ease a bit. Actually just an hour ago I sort of had a mild attack for the first time in a week. So I guess, the pressure during the week was just like you said, CH trying to get out.
My refereral was made last month but my first appointment is not until the 11th of November (I suppose 2 months is normal waiting time?). I don't think its with a headache specialist (at least their webpage description shows a different expertise). In the meantime, I am not sure if there is anything that I can do regarding this? I have been to the GP very frequently but I do not get any response regarding any headache related questions. I'm just told to wait for another month until the neuro sees me. I've been put on diazipam for my anxiety now but I don't think its very helpful. This is the first time ever that I required specilist help and I am not really familiar with that part of the NHS system, but is that the norm?
Yes, I am planning to attend the conference. Its before my neuro appointment and perhaps I could get some advice regarding these constant pains. And meeting other sufferes would certainly help me with keeping my spirits up.

Hi Akash,
Why don't you give the Helpline a call 01646 651979 while you are waiting for some tips to help you?! Most people find it liberating meeting a fellow sufferer for the first time so it is great you are coming to the conference, you will learn so much!
take care
Liz
Yes, I would ring the helpline for a chat. So pleased you'll be coming to the conference! You'll learn a lot there and meet your CH soulmates see you there!
All the best til then
Dorothy

It is important that you see a headache specialist neurologist, and the helpline can tell you who to ask for in that regard.
And welcome to the OUCH family.
Val.
