PIP Home Assessment

Hello,

Has anyone else had trouble in getting a PIP home assessment through Capita?

I was originally invited to an interrogation (sorry assessment) at a centre that meant a 70-mile round trip via public transport. I got this cancelled but now am having to call Capita every morning to see if any home assessments have become available, So far there is nothing up to the end of November!!

The person I have been speaking to is very pleasant and apologetic, but this is ridiculous.

I'm in Nottingham - not really a rural backwater!

I live close to Nottingham but I requested a home visit, otherwise they will see you at their office on Maid Marion Way.

CRAPITA are terriible and the assessment experience goes downhill very quickly.

Good luck

Hahaha! No you were right first time.

I was sent an appointment for 9.30am in Leicester- despite explaining the difficulties with public transport etc. This would mean setting off at 7.30am in the rush hour. There was no mention of a centre in Nottingham- just the usual "you must attend this or else". Certainly no mention anywhere that you can ask for a home assessment. I do suspect that  these appointments are sent out as a test to see of people can make the journeys and if so,they clearly have no mobility problems and the claim can be turned down! My letter  included 2 sets of Googlemaps directions, (both of which came in 1 minute under the 90minute rule). This would prove that  I have no difficulties in following a route to an unfamiliar place, can travel for 3 hours by public transport (its a 70mile round trip)  can walk 500 yards from the station and  read the sign on the door that says Capita Assessments!

Its a load of baloney (or something beginning with B).|(

A taxi is ok... but if you need oxygen can you safely and reliably transport you and sufficient oxygen to last you 4/5 hours. If you requested a home visit on your application when you completed the last section then request it again and make sure that it takes place.....Remember this is all part of the assessment. And the question is how safe and reliable are you?

Absolutely, I put all of these points in the application but they dont take any notice (in the first instance).

Anyhow, I sopke to a different twonk on Thursday who coldnt understand why the previous twonk had told me to phone every day.  The latest instructions are that I have to go on a 'refer' list to get a home assessment. This apparently has now been done, however some waffle about "computer problems" means I have to phone again on Tuesday to make sure it has gone through, and then I "sit back and wait". I have very little confidence in the final statement!! I was asked again why I couldnt go to the assessment centre- I explained and said I had a GP letter (not interested in this) and couldnt make a round trip of 70 miles to Leicester and back. I was then asked if I could get to the assessment centre in my home city!! (This is a 16 mile round trip, but the same difficulties arise). Why I was sent an appointment for Leicester... well have a look at my separate post.

I will give a twonk update tomorrow!:)
