nerve block

Hi all, I Went to see my neuro today for what was supposed to be a routine appointment and I ended up coming home 2 hours later with a numb head!

I was only going for a review on how I'm getting on with Lithium.
During the appointment I mentioned that he had mistakenly written in a letter to my GP that I have had a nerve block, when I haven't.  To my surprise, he wrote up a prescription, and told me if I go and collect it from pharmacy now, he'd fit me in at the end of clinic and do the nerve block straight away.
pharmacy didn't have the drug (lignocaine I think) so spent over an hour trying to find a ward that did have some!
So I had 12 injections all in all, 4 in the back of my head, 2 in each side, and 4 by my eyes.  My head has felt weird since it was done, it's swelled a bit at the injection sites and have the same kind of feeling you get when your gums are numbed at the dentist, except it's right round my head!
My consultant told me I had a supra orbital nerve block, a greater occipital nerve block and I think he said something about multiple cranial nerve block as well.  Has anyone else had this?  What are your experiences of it?
So far I have not had a CH since, but still had lots of sunct attacks.

Hiya, I am glad you were getting some relief from the multi cranial nerve blocks, how long did it last?

When I used to have MCNB it never helped my SUNCT or chronic migraine only my clusters.

Andi
