Disability classification

Hi everyone,

I'm a new member to OUCH, however I received my diagnosis of episodic CH just over two years ago now.

I'm looking into funding grants for a neuroscience masters. Similar to many of the members, CH's have a significant impact on my daily life. However, they only offer disability grants if you fall into one of the following categories:

> Physical impairment
> Vision impairment/Blind
> Hearing impairment/Deaf
> Specific Learning Difficulty e.g. Dyslexia, Dyspraxia
> Learning or intellectual disability
> Neurodivergence

Any suggestions as to whether it could be argued that episodic CH could be classed as a physical impairment (or maybe neurodivergence because of anxiety and depression arising from CH)?

I am excited to have joined OUCH and look forward to being a part of it!

Many thanks and best wishes to you all

(apologies if I have posted in the wrong section)

Hello  J London,

CH is a disability even in its episodic form and the criteria you list must be that set by the university faculty.  I did a part time 6 year degree and had a disabled student grant for my CH.  The University was very helpful and understanding. Would suggest you speak to the disability adviser or learning support adviser at the uni you are applying to.

Very interesting that you are doing a masters in neuroscience, any particular field?

Val.
