Aaargh! Disbelief at Dr Brendan Davies.

Don't know how to express this. Following your advice at the Shrewsbury conference last year I asked my GP to refer me specifically to our local expert and one of your recommended neurologists Dr Brendan Davies. This to get on the books of an expert consultant and gain any new ideas etc...

I went to the new Royal Stoke Hospital and got someone else whose English was not strong and who thought 1.30 am or 2.30 am was in the daytime. I'm sure I have cluster headaches after 10 years of recording them in detail and he said he was not sure I had but I did not have migraines either.

I was able to convince him I knew something especially from this forum and he went off to consult Brendan Davies who would not see him. So I gave him my headache diaries and he said he would look at them with Dr Davies.

All I wanted was half an hour with Dr Davies and none of this nonsense would have been expensively endured.

I am pissed off.

Hi Richard

I can understand how frustrated you must feel. I have heard nothing but good things about Brendan so not sure what has happened here. I have never seen him myself.

I'm only going from memory, but do you live in Stafford? I used to live in Stafford. I see Prof and Juana in London. As you know, we can be in Euston in 1 hr 12 mins on the Pendalino, which annoys my sister to death as it takes her longer and she lives on the outskirts of London!

When you see Prof and Juana you don't get palmed off on juniors, you only see Prof and Juana. They are the best, and if you need "new ideas" why not go to see the consultants who actually have them??

Just a thought.

All the best

Sean

Hi Richard,

Sorry to hear you feel you were not heard at your visit to see Dr Davies.  It seems you probably saw his registrar! You have not stated if a further appointment has been made for you? I am sure this Doctor will do as he says and consider your headache diaries with Dr Davies. Whether or not you get a diagnosis of CH or not I am sure Dr Davies will be overseeing your care and treatment. This may be a breakthrough for you to find the truth of what is happening to you.

Take care

Liz

Many thanks for responses and I hope I get a response to repudiate my disappointment and dismay.

I have to say my condition seems to be the absolute classic ECH at the seasonal equinoxes and I am always concerned it might get worse or I need more drugs to deal with it.

The registrar indicated there would be a written response and took a copy of my headache diary.
