The Staticians put this at around 80% of CH sufferers are triggered by Alcohol, with the majority of those triggererd by Alcohol having an attack within 45 minutes of injestion (which can also be a relatively minor dose)

I can drink alcohol (mine's a dry white wine please ) when out of cycle - with the exception of red wine which would give me a really bad "ordinary" headache at any time.  As soon as I'm in cycle - the tiniest amount of any alcohol would be a bad CH attack within 20 minutes:Sp

Even one mouthful will do it for me in 30 mins!  White wine vinegar in food is a trigger too!!!!

I gave up alcohol many years ago. It was the worst 20 minutes of my life.

I can't touch the stuff, with one notable exception - a glass of champagne (the good stuff, not that asti muck).  But even a sherry trifle will set off an attack.  I don't mind much not having alcohol, at least I remember what goes on at boozy occasions, when everyone else is too blotto!

I know one sufferer whose attacks are triggered by the hand gels.  Yet another who had a course of medication for another condition and the med contained an alcohol derivative and it triggered his attacks. The cheaper perfumes sometimes have an alcohol base, and going into Superdrug is a nightmare for me, so I save up and buy the good stuff!  Anything with alcohol in seems to be a no-no for CH sufferers.

thanks, had a few cruise trips and they have these gels at the restaurant/cafe enterance which is manned by an indian waiter and it was a nightmare trying to explain why we could not use them. [alcohol cracks the skin on the wife's hands so nogo for her too] we resorted to washing with hot soap/water instead much better too for prevention. Many other guests would tutt and moan thinking we were just awkward as they did not understand.
