MIKE POLLOCK AWARD 2018
MIKE POLLOCK AWARD 2018
In 2017 we created a new award to honour our late chairman, Mike Pollock. We wanted to do something special in Mike's name and so now, each year, the award will go to a CH hero in the UK - someone who has shown outstanding and compassionate support to cluster headache sufferers. There was never any limit to the help Mike offered to sufferers; he always went the extra mile, never ceasing to have the well-being of sufferers in mind - so we thought he would approve of the nature of this award. The first recipient of the new award was Darren Hamilton, who is well known in the CH community for his commitment to helping other sufferers. A very worthy choice. Once again, we want to hear your stories about your own CH hero - anyone who has gone that extra mile to help either yourself personally, or cluster headache sufferers in general. We look forward to receiving your stories. The winner will be chosen by our membership from nominations submitted by the cluster headache community in the UK. Submissions must be in by 6.00pm on Saturday, 22nd September. The winner will be presented with the award at our autumn conference. Voting for OUCH trustees/officers or a previous winner is not permitted. Closing date for nominations: 6pm Saturday, 22nd September, 2018. Please send your nomination to submissions@ouchuk.org

He was well known for his boundless enthusiasm in helping sufferers and he would go to any lengths to help any one of us. He would love that this award in his name goes to a person who is not only supportive but goes that extra mile for a sufferer. Darren Hamilton was the first worthy recipient of this new award last year.
We asked you to nominate your hero. The nominations are now in and we take pleasure in opening the poll for voting once again.

A DESERVING WINNER!
You chose Tracy Wakefield for the Mike Pollock Award and she is such a great choice.
As I have said many times before - Tracy neither suffers from, nor supports a sufferer of cluster headache. She just wants to help us all and she does this in abundance. Tracy has worn many a pair of shoes out (not to mention her knees and feet) for the sake of charity and we are very lucky to have her. This year alone she did the Brighton Marathon, the Great North Run and the Great South Run. Tracy has been fundraising for us since 2015 and it's been non-stop.
Thank you so much Tracy. Now have a well deserved rest!

fantastic, well done verry much deserved,, talk about the extra mile,, you ran them all with us in your heart,,
Tracy really has gone a lot of extra miles for us. She hasn't received her award yet as she couldn't make it to the Plymouth conference but it's possible she could come to the next one and be presented with the award there...
