Melatonin

Ok, hi all!

new to signing up but have visited the page many times before, just getting sick of the headaches cropping up.

I get them for a period of 2-3 months every couple years so i consider myself one of the lucky ones.

i usually get 5-6 a day, mostly at night and early/mid morning when im dozing and the odd afternoon one. The ones at night are the worst as they catch me unaware.

injections and oxygen work a treat and for the most part i can suffer without an injection just using the O

ive noticed they changed the injections now to a single use pen?

they started just before christmas as they usually do around this time and i read something on this forum about trying melatonin? but i cant find it now? however it was interesting to me as most of mine seem to occur at night

Anyway.....i went out to get some only to find its not really sold over the counter.

Melatonin is naturally produced in the body anyway so the lady at holland and barrat recomended trying this as it enocurages the body to produce more?

http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-montmorenc...

So for the last three days a couple hours before before bed ive done it and since then ive had one headache during the night and had to use an injection but thats it. sound nights sleep after that and only mild glimmers of a headache during the day.

im gonna keep it up and see what happens but for 12quid i thought it was worth a shot.

All the best!

That's great to hear that you've had success with melatonin.  I believe there's plenty written about it on other CH sites, mainly in the US, where there are greater volumes of subscribers.  Send me a PM if you need links to the sites.

I hope it continues to work well for you.  Keep us posted!

Re; the Injector pens, the complete 'pen' type are made by Sun Pharmaceuticals, the box version with the two injections which you load into the pen are made by Glaxo Smith Kline, identical stuff in the injections, just made by two different companies.  And the Sun ones are cheaper than the GSK ones.  Some sufferers are having difficult getting the GSK ones, and we suggest that they ask for the Sun version ones and also ask their GP to put subcutaneous sumatriptan 6mg on the prescription form and leave out the brand name.
