I havnt been posting very much and mainly because I will admit I am depressed and have been suicidal in last 6 months. I am receiving positive help from pain clinic and working hard on this.I been a chronic patient for over 8 yrs
As anyone in Scotland is aware all Cluster patients are dealt with at Southern General. I like a lot of patients only get a brake from the Clusters with a GON block which will give me anything upto a 10 day pain free period.
Back in Feb of this year the train wreck that had been waiting to happen hit the clinic. The clinic was run by 1 person which was always such a dangerous way to run something like this and over the years the consultants have been adding more and more patients with all forms of headache condition to the clinic resulting in course on a ridiculously overworked situation. In Feb Catherine who did the GON block went off sick and is still off sick resulting in total collapse of the clinic.
Today after making formal complaint I was added onto another consultants clinic to receive my GON block but was faced when arrived initial refusal of treatment as basically this guy had had enough of seeing another consultants patients. I had the humiliation in my view of having and in front of a student that I had not been told would be there having to tell the consultant I am depressed and had been suicidal to get my treatment.
I am now booked into a "ghost clinic " for next appointment as they admit they have no idea if and when Catherine will return but are just booking them in anyway. This was same as last time and all they do is then phone you to tell you your appointment is cancelled.
Now I have keept quiet Since Feb giving the Hospital a chance to sort things out but that time has passed.
I feel urgent action is needed and somehow we need the Scottish health dept to intervene here. I do not know how this can be done but hope there is enough of you in same boat that we can act as 1 voice.

Jason I have been going to see DrTyagi and Catherine for almost ten years now, and I no how you feel I have asked both my MP and Greater Glasgow Health Board to attend the Kirkaldy meeting and they both said they were on holiday, Mike has said he would set aside more time at the meeting to help discuse a plan, as it is gettinng unbarable, I now make my own arrangments for a DHE as I know Dr T is never there and Catherine has been of for nearly a year.

Hi I too attend southern and only have true relief from the gonb as i don't respond to treatment except the injections which i try to use when desperate only as i never know how bad the next attack will be. i too have not been seen since Feb and normally have blocks every 8 -10 wks.
Hurt my back a month ago so have seen a chiropracter which has some how relieved my daytime attacks which helps to keep me working but the evenings / night times are hellish. Feel sad that no one at the southern understands what this is quite like except Catherine who sadly is missed.
Like you I am very frustrated at the treatment you are recieving in Scotland and whilst the last thing I wish to do is in any way attack Dr Tyagi who has done a fantastic job in Scotland we do need to clarify when things are going to improve.Its actually on the agenda to discuss this at Kirckaldy because also the CCG's in Scotland appear to be helpless and now have no control over GP's budgets. It now seems that if a GP refuses recommended medication for whatever reason (usually cost) there is no longer anywhere to appeal.
