Demand Valve stuck in A Freedom 600 cylinder - Help!
Hi everyone - I've tried to contact Steve Hathaway about this problem, but unfortunately he is off sick at the moment, so I am not sure of what to do next. I connected my demand valve to a Freedom 600 cylinder. I noticed two things a) there was a slow leak, so I presumed I had not fitted it correctly (usually not a problem with the large cylinders) and b) the plastic four-pronged outer casing on the Schrader fitting was missing - the one you turn clockwise to release the demand valve. The other 600's I have look to be the same. I have applied as much force as I dare to release it, but obviously don't want to damage the demand valve - for which I still owe OUCH the balance. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best wait for one of the OUCH officers to come back to you, but in the meantime:
Firstly, I would not try to force it out, you may damage it.
I think my first call would be to your oxygen supplier and ask them to send an engineer around (preferably with some cylinders with proper connectors). The engineer may be able to help.
I have experienced situations where it has been difficult to release it. I pushed some air into the system (if you have any left), before wrapping an easy grip jar release and a tea towel around the mechanism to help me twist it.
The most important thing to remember is that you won't get it out by pulling it, you have to twist the connector section.
I suspect better advice will not be too far away.

Not better advice Sean, about the same advice. Naomi please call the O2 suppler. The Schrader fitting should have had the lugs. I guess you have completly turned off the O2 cylinder and also purged the demand valve and then tried to push the plug in to release it.

GOOD GRIEF! I've done it - yes,it was turned off, yes it was purged. This time I put a whole lot of pressure down as I tried to release it and voila!
(Thought I'd give it one more go before calling Baywater)

Seems it was the Schrader fitting (the fitting in the cylinder) and not the demand valve
