Paraxysmal Hemicrania ?
I have numerous ( 3 to 8) one sided headaches around leftear/temple and neckhead each day with very bad pain and blocked nose. I am currently on 800 mg Verapirmil per day which does not seem to be working. I have had some nerve blocks and have injectable Imigran for really bad headaches ( does not work either). These headaches have been going on for the last 11 months and last between 15 min and 30 mins max. Is it possible that I have been misdiagnosed with Clustered Headaches and actually have Paraxysmal Hemcrania? Any advice - my GP has presribed Indomethican which I am going to trial from tommorrow.

Paroxysmal hemicrania responds absolutely to therapeutic doses of indomethacin. It's well worth a try,given the pain duration of your attacks. Make sure you take a gastric protector such as omeprazole,as indomethacin can cause considerable stomach problems.

Also please check you are not being prescribed Verapamil SR (Slow Release) or MR (Modified Release)
You should have BP (British Pharmaceutical)
Verpamil takes two or three weeks to be effective and you must have ECG's as you increase the doseage.

I started on Indometacin last Saturday and had almost an immediate positive reaction - 3 days without any headaches and I thought I was over the current experiences. However I have had 3 headached this morning of a differant profile and while pretty bad not as severe as before. Is this unusual or any advice? Tks
Sounds very encouraging! If you are able to keep a headache diary of this your Neurologist will find this very helpful. Note down the length of attacks the pain level Using a scale of 0-10 Zero being pain free and 10 being the worst pain ever! You may find the kip scale helpful. Note down what meds you use and when.
From my own personal experience I found the Indomethacin took the pain but I would still get some headaches and my Neuro suggested at it is possible to get some rebound attacks from Indomethacin. These extra headaches improved when I spaced out the doses of Indo i.e. 7am, 3pm, 11pm. Are you taking a tummy protector each morning? This is essential as Indo is quite strong on the stomach. I always had something to eat, banana or a couple of biscuits before I took it to line the stomach.
