Naps triggering attack.
So they have returned after a 5 year break and they are really giving me a good kicking this time. The worst trigger currently and one I haven't had before is when I take a nap. This seems really cruel as I am so exhausted with the waking up at night and the Zomig nasal spray which wipe me out. Does anyone else get this?

I'm prescribed Sumatriptan and Oxygen when I experience Cluster Headaches. When my episodes start, its always at night (usually circa 0100) though they shift and increase in frequency and happen in the day ... but I've never associated them with naps.
Yep.
I've been episodal for decades. Naps, REM sleep and being tired are all triggers during a bout.
Personally, heat is also a trigger, so, for me, a purge of cold water can abort an attack. Caffeine headaches can also trigger me -which I've also used to trigger and then abort attacks. I've found the balance and timing crucial.
I do not recommend sudden cold showers or playing with cluster headaches, this is just how I cope.
Hi, I am a chronic CH sufferer.
Yes naps are definitely a trigger for me aswell. If I 'nod off' on the sofa it will always trigger an attack.
It's got to the point where if I'm watching the t.v or a film my wife will check on me to make sure I'm not falling asleep. And as you say when your going through the pain constantly all you want to do sometimes is sleep to recover but, it seems to be the worst thing you can do...go fugure!
I also find hot baths a trigger aswell which again I love *sad*
