Do university's offer support to cluster sufferers?

I've suffered from cluster headaches, misdiagnosed as severe migraine since i was 15 (now 27). Gp has finally diagnosed cluster and am recieving treatment though waiting for neurologist appointment. I most recently had a 3 year break and assumed "migraines" had gone away. Now i know it is Cluster i am worried about starting university in september as i had to drop out 7 years ago due to my headaches. Does anyone know if universitys are understanding to the condition?.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Cluster headache is a disability.
So, yes. Any University will be understanding and help adjust to your needs, same as an employer.

I went to Bangor University (North Wales) who have a fantastic student support system. Although I didn't have n official diagnosis until after I graduated, I was given extra time in exams, took exams in a room alone (with only an invigilator) so if I had an attack I could jump around and shout without worrying about disqualification! I was also given extentions on all my work in my final year (although I never had to use it, luckily) but as I was having a lot of tests and hospital appointments, they were very lenient. Best idea is to contact the student support system before you go - and don't worry about it Biggrin Best of luck!!

Arise and be all that you dreamed.
