The start-up dosage is 240mgs per day (120am - 120pm).  After two weeks,if no beneficial effects are felt, the dosage should be increased by another 120mgs (am,midday, evening) but only after an ecg has been performed. The dosage should be increased by 120mgs every two weeks ( until an effective level has been reached) or until the maximum of 960mgs has been attained. An ecg must be performed before any increase in dosage. Please make sure that the Verapamil is the BP version - the MR(modified release) and SR (slow release )are not as effective. Just a word of caution - do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice whilst taking Verapamil.

Best of luck.

I should have added.......... never take any medication without the express permission of your doctor or neurologist.
