BEATSON'S MULL RALLY 14-16th OCTOBER 2016

Team OUCH have been out and about in Tobermory on the beautiful island of Mull.  We were given a second opportunity to raise funds at the Beatson's Mull Rally after last year's event was cut tragically short.  Twelve months after being involved in the terrible crash in which his close friend and co-driver, Andy Mort, lost his life, John MacCrone and co-driver Stuart Loudon claimed an emotional win.

The amazing rally crews got us off to a flying start, raising an astounding £1,125 by donating extra £s with their entry fee.  Huge thanks to the drivers, crew members and all of the wonderful spectators who braved the rain and overwhelmed us with their generosity.  The team are still out in Tobermory tonight with their red donation buckets and have almost reached the target.

You can help them to reach the target by donating via the link below:

MULL RALLY BIGGEST HEADACHE AWARD.

This year OUCH (UK) presented a trophy which we hope will be an annual award. It's the prize for the biggest headache! The "headache" is the struggle that crews and engineers have to endure to get the car to the finish line, a nod to the struggle that clusterheads have to get to the end of their day.

The winner was #5 Jonathan Mounsey/Richard Wardle - Mitsubishi Lancer.

The transfer 'box burst on Shakedown, he offered to buy a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo on Facebook from anyone on the island, give them a car to use over the weekend and use the 'box to get the rally started.  Jonathan's ambition for the event was to get a podium position and he had prepared heavily for it, but on Saturday afternoon, Richard Wardle, his co-driver, started to feel unwell.  Richard got progressively worse throughout the day to the extent that he couldn't sit in the car on Saturday night and they had to retire. Jonathan was sitting 5th overall at the time and in a battle for third overall.

The prize certainly went to a deserving team who battled to stay on the road.  We wish Richard Wardle a speedy recovery.

The traditional Sunday parade shared from Mull Rally's page.  I missed this as I had to go home earlier than the others.sadWe've been so lucky to benefit from the rally.

HAPPY DAYS FOR JOHN & STUART: 2016 MULL WINNERS
Beatson’s Mull Rally Winners John MacCrone and Stuart Loudon celebrated with the rest of the island during the award presentation and traditional Parade Walk on Sunday afternoon.
Joined by runner-up Calum Duffy, and the crew of the third-placed car, Derek McGeehan and Arthur Kierans, John and Stuart led the Champagne-spraying.
This year, for the first time since 2009, the Award Presentation was held inside the Aros Hall in Tobermory simply because of the inclement weather, and overseen by the title sponsors of the event, Beatson’s Building Supplies owners John and Ross Marshall (in the red Beatson’s-branded tops).

Bloody excellent result and huge thanks not only to the teams who took part but to the rain soaked OUCH volunteers who supported and rattled the buckets.  Andi, I know you got soaked to the skin, hope you haven't suffered to much as a result.  Three cheers to all of you!
