Hi, I live in a rented room and have just had oxygen delivered, my live in landlord tells me the 5 cylinders would not be covered for insurance purposes, can anyone help.
phone the insurance, tell them its medical oxygen and the o2 supplier has done a risk assessment [mine [dolby]does it every 6 months now] if ok ask for a letter to show landlord.
I assume the landlord has the correct landlord insurance in place in the first place. there after you can ask him what the premium would be to add the 'risk' to the insurance (it shouldn't be much) and offer to pay the difference if you can afford it.
It could be that he is hunting for an excuse to end your tenancy.
does anyone know if using oxygen while pregnant can do any harm to the baby? I'm 7months pregnant and my episodic clusters started yesterday. Yesterday's and today's I have persevered without treatment but don't think I could go a month (or more) without pain relief, let alone the rest of the week. I know mothers get given oxygen during labour but it is a lower dose to what I take for my headaches which is why I am concerned.
Any advice greatly received. The midwives I've spoken to have never heard of Clusters.
I don't have any idea about this myself, but it occurs to me that even if the midwives haven't heard of clusters....they must have heard of oxygen! And the question is not about clusters so much as about oxygen use in pregnancy.
If they don't know the answer themselves, they surely must have access to consultant obstetricians who I would have thought are the people to issue guidance on this. I think if I was in your position I would be pushing very hard in that direction. Maybe ask in writing via email or letter, state it is extremely urgent and then chase by phone calls. It might make somebody actually start finding out.....and to get them to take your need for oxygen seriously when they don't get the severe nature of CH I recommend a phrase like 'I suffer cluster attacks which are severely disabling neurological attacks for which oxygen is the appropriate treatment'. Forget the word headache, it gets people in entirely the wrong zone!

Lisa, speak to your Neuro and your Obstetrician about this. As far as we know it is ok to use oxygen whilst pregnant but we are not Docs and cannot diagnose or prescribe so it is important you get this checked out. Also a good number of women with CH are pain free during pregnancy, sadly just a few have attacks but deal with them with oxygen. I was pain free through pregnancy.
