New to Ouch and I’m looking for some information

Hi Stephanie,and welcome to Ouch. Candersartan isn't the usual medication for CH. It would suggest that your GP knows very little about the condition. You need a referral to a neurologist who specialises in headache. Can I suggest that you call our advice line in order to be armed with the necessary information to ensure a referral. The neurologist will take control of your medication regime. The advice line will take you through all the relevant medications. It will be the best phone call you've made in a long while.

sorry to hear you are having a bad episode, thats just pants. Definately insist on a referal to a neurologist, this in itself is no guarantee that you will get the right treatment but its a good start! My first neurologist spent a year treating me for the wrong thing because he preferred to act on what he wanted to hear rather than what I said. Eventually I ended up at James Cook Hospital who are right on the ball, I'm on good treatment now (whopping doses of Verapamil) but most important of all I have Sumatriptan epi pens. Oral sumatriptan didn't do anything for me (probably cos the dose was far too small) but the epi pens are magic, as soon as a headache starts I whack one in my thigh and it stops it in its tracks, better than oxygen as they don't come back till the next night.

Hope you get the drugs you need (and maybe a few you don't just for good measure!)
