Hi, I'm Mike

im 46 and was diagnosed 11 years ago. Ive had them longer. Im episodic and usually October is my bastard month. I have injections and oxygen. I've tried varipimil, stereoids, something else and last few years it's been topiramate. When I'm in an episode they last for 8-16 weeks and normally a 1/3 of that I get 8-10 headaches a day. It's been a fucking misery for 10 years. I wait each autumn for them to start, the best non drug relief is to masturbate. I have never read that on here but the trigger to the hyperthalimus seems to work. I appreciate you can't do this 10 times a day or in public places but I can't believe no one has ever posted that!!!
this year is the first in over 11, that I haven't had an episode. I have only had them after Covid jabs and when I had Covid. I've had 6 headaches since January?? Am I growing out of it????

Hello Grimes,

CH can change from time to time and bouts can lengthen or even disappear for a time, but sadly you do not grow out of it!  It is not unknown for sexual activity to abort an attack, but for most of us that is the last thing in the world we want to do!

Speak to your Neurologist about having a nerve block as they can often help you get through a bout.

Liz
