Cold water relief.

Thought I'd share with you all about the relief I got from cold water during an attack. I had often used the bathroom during mainly nocturnal ECH attacks. Hard cold tiles to press and bang my left eye socket against, a place alone where I hoped wife and son couldn't hear my grunts and groans....I've always thought they'd think I was giving birth! As always you will try anything to help, and last bout I tried the bath shower attachment for relief. I unscrewed the shower head , knealt next to bath with head and shoulders near taps like washing your hair. I had the cold tap on a trickle, didn't want noisy cistern to wake others. Being late October, the water from the attic tank was ice cold. I alternated between hose directly on scalp and holding from above to allow heavy dripping onto affected area. I'm not saying the pain left completely, but it certainly helped. It helped too, with that horror when Mr CH places a cigarette lighter up your nose. With a very slow trickle, face down I was snorting the water up my left nostril.... took a bit of getting used to, a lot of coughing to start, but eventually mastered a technique for some relief. Please I don't want anyone to drown,so be careful. !

Hoping this will help someone, don't give up trying, best wishes Dave

I never worried about the noise of the water, if that disturbed my family's sleep, they'd already be awake from me rushing through the night to get to the bathroom: I'm no Ninja.

I have the water running, not just a trickle. My aim is to numb every nerve in my head. I hold the hose between my palms and cup my hands over my face, switching to the scalp and neck as required.

Some sufferers are triggered by cold. Freezing your head isn't fun and the shock to your system probably isn't healthy.

Nice to hear that this method has helped you too ,Phil. Your comment about freezing your head, has jogged my memory, Teaspoons in the freezer. This came before using cold water. I used to use a teaspoon to cup/press/massage my left eye,cheek.... where ever the pain went. I then tried keeping a few in the freezer for the added bonus of the cold. Again it gave some relief. The downside of that though, most of my teaspoons are bent now!  Obviously not too much pressure when over eye ball, but pushing against the point of pain on boney areas helped. Combined with deep breathing, and pushing the spoon as I exhaled.
