GammaCore

Hi all,

I recently read about Gamma Core being available via the NHS.  I'd love to know peoples reviews and if they're recieved one - how they got it?

Thanks.

It's available at consultant level. If you're going to the conference on Sunday, there will be representatives from Electrocore in attendance to advise.

Hello, I am using GammaCore.  I began in July following a visit to Kings.   It is very straightforward to use.   I am carefully keeping a headache diary for 3 months and we will review the results at the end to see if there is any difference in the pattern of the CH.

I use the device 3 times per day.   If in an attack I can use it more frequently of course.  Only thing I find frustrating is that once an attack is underway I just wish I could use it on my skull to change the feeling of the pain which is know is not what I am allowed to do!  and would be pointless of course.

It feels like pins and needles, it makes the side of my lip slide a little downwards whilst in use which makes me know that I have hit the correct spot at least.   I do not know as yet if it is making any difference.   I am a chronic sufferer but I want to see the long term results.

Hope this is useful.

It is worth a go !

Best wishes

Sue

Hi there,

This is the second bout of CH that I'm using GC in. I'm having mixed results. Sometimes it cuts an attack dead, other times not.

I have also had the urge to use it on my templ, tried too but it made it worse!! ----

Hi Andy, I am still using GC twice daily morning and night, never missing.  I have improved in that CH rarely hits in daytime. I just wake up with it usually in bouts for about 5 or 6 nights then a few days off.   I do us more GC if I find an attack persists but always I just so want to use it on my skull!  But yes it often relieves via my neck but during an attack the last thing often I want to do is hold my head upwards for the dosage.   But I do recommend it, I am improved.   Sue

Hi again,

I will definitely stick with it. What time of day do you use it?

i wasn't told it could be used preventatively

Hi Andy,

I use my Gammacore device each morning on waking and at night as I go to bed.   I take two zaps each time.  I usually have mine set to 21 but I think it is up to the user?     If I am in using it during an attack Itake three zaps still at 21 then pause for a few minutes and another three zaps.   I just find it difficult to use during an attack as all I want to do is  press my head against something and not fiddle around with the side of my neck as holding the Gammacore in the right place is hard when you can't keep still -  but I know it is worth it and must persist.    This was the advice on the leaflet that came with the device.    But, please check about usage with your own consultant?   I was provided with mine through Kings last June.   How long have you been using yours?   Sue

Hi again,

I was prescribed mine back in August but by then it was the back end of my usual cycle.

For some reason my cycle has started in Dec, 5 months early, so I've been using it sporadically since then.

thanks

Hello, I am using GammaCore. I began to use this 2 weeks ago. It is very straightforward to use I am on a 93 day trail with it. I had a video call from electrocore and was shown how to use it, basically apply gel and place on neck near wind pipe, if your on the right spot your lip will move downwards. I have felt great since using the gammacore hardly any pain or attacks. There is only one issue I am having too deal with, I now have to deal with a pain free head and this is causing me to feel nauseous, confused, emotional and clear headed I'm unable to think at times. My electrocore agent/ assistant is a great help with any issues. But right now I am struggling with my university degree course. I have to learn to cope feeling good for a change. Had my first bout of attacks yesterday and today. Gammacore helped with all of them.

I use the device 3 times per day as a preventive, currently with my preventive medication too. If in an attack I can use it upto 30 times within 24hrs.

It feels like pins and needles, it makes the side of my lip slide a little downwards whilst in use which makes me know that I have hit the correct spot and you can use it on anyside of the vagas nerve.

It is worth a go, it works for around 50% of people zit can work straight away like myself, or take weeks to months to work that's why you start on a 93 day trail.

Has anyone had the same response as myself? Basically a head so clear that you can't think at times!!!! If so what have you done to cope?

Hi all,

I'm a chronic CH sufferer of around 26 years. Was 12 years until diagnosis, then went onto imigran injections/oxygen. Tried Topiromate, Amitryptiline, and finally Verapimil as preventatives. Had really good results with the latter, but over a period of six years my dose has increased to the point of maxing out, A few months ago my Neurologist suggested I try GammaCore.

It's now been nearly two months of using it for two zaps three times a day, and my headaches have completely disappeared. I'm now reducing my Verapimil dose to see if they start up again but so far nothing. It took about a week to start taking effect, Another strange element is according to my smart watch my sleep scores have improved significantly.

I'm still fairly amazed as I was a bit of a skeptic when I first started off with it but the results are life changing.

I thought I'd share my experience as I think this device will help a lot of people.

Cheers

Jim
