Aarrgh. I am having a nightmare trying to get sumatriptan injections from our local Boots chemist. Have struggled through with the Imigran ones, but i don't like them at all. Anyone else having problems. Or can anyone tell me what I need to do now to get them??

Imigran are made by GSK (Glaxo Smith Kleine). Sun Pharma also make sumatriptan injections but have been out of production for a year or so until recently, and now they will slowly become available again. Hope this helps.

Still no joy getting sumatriptan injections!! Going to Lloyds Pharmacy tomorrow to see if they can help. Out of all inections now, 02 and anything else i can lay may hands on will have to do. If i succumb to them letting me have the Imigran ones, i know for sure they won't bother getting me the ones I want. Their attitude at Boots leaves a lot to be desired. And the funny thing is, we have THREE BOOTS STORES within 2 miles! Ha. Hows that for planning? Still, i will keep trying and let you know.

Just an update here on Sumatriptan injections:
It seems there has been a shortageof Imigran/GSK branded injections recently. Linda D on Facebook posted this today:
'Hi there. I just spoke to someone at GSK about the apparent shortage of injections. I was advised that they had been experiencing a 'low stock' issue due to a late delivery. She has advised me they are expecting a FULL RECOVERY of availability by the end of July.'

And the Sun injections are fully available in the UK. I've had them here in Wales no problem, perhaps some of the pharmacies are not aware of the availability of the Sun Pharma injections. They are cheaper than the GSK ones and I find they don't sting as much as the GSK jabs. The Sun injections are single use, and no loading, j ust take the cap off the end, place tube/nozzle against skin, press button on end of injector pen and its done, then the whole thing can be disposed of. We would suggest asking your pharmacy for a small sharps bin to put them in. And that's another thing with the GSK ones, they don't fit in a small sharps bin and I was told by m y pharmacy to throw the GSK ones in the rubbish bin!
Quite shocked by that!

The problem I have here is that the sharps bins are no longer taken by our doctors. We have to wait until we have 3 or more full, then ring our council. We can leave them 'outside' for them to be collected. Doesn't seem a very safe way of disposing of them. Does anyone else have to do this?
