clenching the teeth
Been getting a lot of face and roots of upper teeth root pain with background headaches, and found myself clenching my teeth a lot without thinking. I presume to help ease the pain any tips on how to stop this habit. Happens during the day rather than night time.
any one had this? or is it just me being different again.

You again David. Probably you are grinding your teeth.

Hi duetto,
I have clenched my teeth for year and have been told I have TMJ problems with a lax ligament. Have a solid gum sheld like a removable retainer from dental hospital that has helpped to relax my jaw and muscles at night and also reduce pain and lock jaw.
My dentist suggested a gum shield for my night time teeth grinding when I'm in bout.
I still laugh at him every visit.
thank you for replies
phil .....got a new dentist seems keen on clusters noticed my jaw clicks and my bite lopsided now got a lower teeth gum shield for night wear.
Not stopped clusters, but I do not seem to clench teeth now or get nerve pain in the teeth roots but still early days.
[dentist always seem more intereted in clusters than gp's]
Before I was diagnosed with CH ( took them 11 years!) My doctor had my dentist remove my wisdom teeth as the said I suffered from nuralga how wrong they were!!
Doctors eh? Leeches would be a better treatment.
David.
Hope the gum-shield works for you.
The problem for me is by the time I wake with a cluster attack, I'll be at kip 7: Anything in my mouth would've been destroyed.
phil i think during the night before my cluster wake me up my teeth must have been grinding one side has worn down, my face pain with clusters is less now, but everything that helps is always beaten in a short time as clusters always overcome everything. still got clusters no effect on head and eye pain.
