O2 and the going away conundrum

Hey Guys, I've been here lurking for 8 odd years which is how long ago I was diagnosed. For the last 2 years I've been on Lithium  of various doses and now the MONSTER is back, worse than ever - last night I had 4 episodes.

Ive reverted back to O2 therapy to help in addtion to Lithium which is helping. My concern is that I have to go away on business to the US for 6 days and I dont think I can take the pain without Oxygen.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

A

I visited the US to stay with my father on a couple of occasions and arranged oxygen with a local medical supply company in his home town.  You need to find out where the nearest medical supply outlet is to where you are working, contact them by e-mail, provide details of your requirements - size of tank [I had 600 litre tanks], mask, regulator trolley/bag for the tank.  I paid a deposit with a credit card, which you get back at the end of the hire period.  For a week in the US I paid about £100.00 but got back the deposit of £25.00.  This was in 2010.  I have no idea what the charges are now.  YOu could also try an organisation called Oxygen Worldwide - www.oxygenworldwide.com who have outlets all over the world.

For the flights to and from US I suggest that you ask your GP for a triptan called Frovatriptan which has a half life in the body of up to 26 hours.  I use these to get me thru flights to Australia, so the US should be a breeze.  Do remember that any triptan you take must be part of your daily triptan total.

Hope this helps.

Val.
