Why not give the helpline a ring and go over it all with them.
They may be able to offer a few suggestions.

PermalinkOf course, the sufferer
Of course, the sufferer should make up their own mind regarding what treatment they adopt, but please be aware that OUCH does not recommend or support the use of illegal alternatives in the treatment of CH. We have taken the advice of eminent neurologists and that advice is that the long term effects of using illegal alternatives is not yet known, although cognitive function is affected by most of them; and the dosing of alternatives is too inexact. Also, any person who has suffered a psychiatric or depressive illness should not take illegal alternatives.

Did you try ringing the helpline for a chat? I urge you to do that rather than considering looking at illegal alternatives. As Val has pointed out, there are uncertainties and risks, plus the long term effects are so unpredictable.

starfish, many sufferers seem to have had a terrible year.
your husband certainly has been put through many medications, to try and control the condition. A chat to our helpline would be a great start to understand what options are available.
there are several noninvasive trials continuing at the minute, and more likely to be announced in the coming weeks.
we would always encourage every Clusterheadache sufferer, to research their condition and to find a treatment option that both yourselves and importantly your medical specialists are comfortable with.

i mean all these drugs that the doctors keep trying to give us (if your lucky) are really amazing and helpfull to us.NOT.
i mean who would want to take a drug that requires getting your heart checked on a regular basis,or hey im so desperate can you cut my head open and put a totally useless devise in.
botom line the professionals have failed us and will not find the answer we need, it wil be down to cluster heads to do that. dont listen to the ignorant and illinformed do your own research and read a lot then make your mind up, if you want to keep taking dangerous drugs that do no good and at best make it worse carry on doing what the norm is,if you fancy some pain free time go on cluster busters and study.
