SUNCT and sumatriptan injections
SUNCT and sumatriptan injections
Over 1 year ago I was diagnosed with SUNCT and since then have beeen on various medications none of which have been effective for any length of time. I am presently on 60mg Duloxetine "topped up" with Zomig nasal spray both ineffective. My Neurologist has now suggested injections of Sumatriptan to see if that will help. My understanding is that Sumatriptan works in the same way as Zomig ( Zolmitriptan) so I cannot work out how that will help. I also am having say up to 80+ episodes a day without any warning, so how will I know when to take the first dose. Separately the literature mentions possible side effects if you have cardiovascular disease and I have had 2 stents inserted in the last 6 years + (controlled) high BP and a history of DVT's. Should I be taking this at all? I get the impression that my Consultant is floundering! Any comments/advice would be appreciated

Hi Chris
Give our advice line a call on 0800 6696 824. You need to see a headache specialist and they could advise you on that. Leave your details and they'll ring you back. Having a chat to them about this should help. All the best.
