Sumatriptan nasal spray national shortage?

Can any other members confirm this? My repeat prescription cannot be fulfilled by my local Boots pharmacy for 2 months due to shortage of Imigran. What should I do, fortunately I have oxygen but not always with me. Any advice will be helpful.

If you can, try a different pharmacy. I've had prescriptions in the past that couldn't be fulfilled by one pharmacy chain that could be fulfilled by another. I was told that they use different suppliers.

Hi Riley.

We haven't heard of any shortages.

I will suggest asking your GP for Sumatriptan injections, but I think you mentioned your dislike of them in the past?

My local pharmacies are out of stock and I've ended up going to https://www.doctorfox.co.uk/. More expensive than prescription but my prescription doesn't allow me to get sufficient 'stock' of nasal spray to cover a long bout.

Thanks everyone... I decided to give the pharmacy another try. Apparently getting a new prescription for an equivalent product from the GP is an option, but your right I do not like the injections. However I did find out the nasal sprays at 20 mg will not be in normal production till June! Fortunately I do have oxygen at home. Thanks again!

I have the same problem with pharmacy saying they are out of stock until further notice.

They have suggested I go to GP and ask for something else.

This is yet another dissapointment with the NHS service here in Cumbria. They are going backwards in terms of provision of treatment from my experice this year!

In my experience, it's the large franchises that can't get our drugs. My local pharmacy had no problem supplying my medicine after Lloyds returned my prescription.
