Sumatriptan injection shortage
I’m a newly diagnosed CH sufferer although have had classic migraines for as long as I can remember and MAV/VM since 2013. Today I’ve desperately tried to get hold of Sumatriptan injections to be told by my local pharmacy that there is a national shortage, and has been for 6/7 months. Can any shed any light on this for me?! TIA

Hi Teens
Sumatriptan is made by two companies, one is GSK who do the injections called Imigran and the other is Sun P harma, and the same injections is just titled Sun Pharma subcutaneous sumatriptan. From the DOH website we found out that the shortage is with the GSK ones. Sun Pharma injections are widely available. so tell your pharmacist about the sun ones.

Hi val, many thanks for the information. I shall be sure to let them know!
Hi Val, please would you be able to post a link to the DOH page which explains the shortage with the GSK ones.
Here is the link: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/164db6b037c771c1?projector=1&mes... It is a PDF of a document produced by the Department of Health and Social Care Medicine Supply Team.
Hope this helps.

Hi Val, I’ve tried the above link and it takes me to my gmail inbox?! Not sure how/why. Teens
